This week's assignment involves Chapter 6 of How People Learn II. In this report, Riviero details the main components of a learner's motivation. These include, but are not limited to, the student's beliefs, goals, and cultural contexts.

    Your infographic is great! it is clean and organized. I like Riviero's connection to Guru's. I think creativity is so important to learning. I wish it was emphasized more in the daily classroom.

    Your infographic is excellent—visually clean, well-organized, and easy to follow. It effectively communicates key ideas without overwhelming the viewer, which is a real strength in design.
    I especially appreciated how you highlighted the connection between Rivero’s and Gura’s perspectives. Drawing that link helps to reinforce how both emphasize the importance of creativity as a central component of meaningful learning. Creativity isn't just a nice addition to the curriculum—it’s essential for fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and student engagement.

EDUC 5413 Week 4

Part 1 The Magic School lesson plan for Oklahoma Science Standard 3.ESS2.1 gives the teacher an excellent starting point for introducing weather data. It allows them to rely on and expand their knowledge of tables and bar graphs. The assessment is based on the most basic understanding of the standard. Unfortunately, this lesson plan does not give specific instructions on how the students are to “create a seasonal weather chart that includes temperature, precipitation, and wind conditions” or what tools they will use to “create a seasonal weather chart.” I would include links to a website or text that contains the raw data for them to include in their bar graph, as well as a technology tool students can use to create the bar graph. MagicSchool is an excellent tool for educators to use as a starting point for any lesson. However, it does not give enough information to fully implement its concepts if the educator only uses the lesson plan generator. Other MagicSchool tools should be used...

EDUC 5313 Week 2

For this week's entry, I will dive into the components and an example of Authentic Intellectual Work.  I will also compare it with other widely accepted theories in education.  Authentic Intellectual Work (AIW) encompasses learning activities that engage students in exploring real-world problems or scenarios, inspiring them to ask inquiry-based questions, engage in higher-order thinking, and communicate their understanding through creative problem-solving (Newman et al., 2007).
